My mission as a mentor is to work with individuals already working as interpreters to provide a positive environment where those seeking to grow can safely experiment, discuss, research, and hone existing skills. In this I seek to empower other learners by fostering an exchange of ideas, thoughts, beliefs, world views, and experiences that will lead everyone involved, including myself, to personal and professional growth. I mean to do this by encouraging those I mentor to set goals for themselves and choose the path we travel. On these journeys I will function as leader or follower as the situation dictates, and always as a fellow traveler. I will not set the goals, but rather help to frame their goals into objectives small enough to work with in ways that are measurable, and attainable.
I offer myself in particular to those seeking mentorship in the specialty areas of medical, video interpreting, the business of independent contract interpreting, and those wishing to explore peripheral skills that will augment specific interpreting tasks, such as vocal training.
